Contino Expands APAC Presence with New Sydney Office to Meet Rising Digital Transformation Demand

Six months after opening an office in Australia for the first time, Contino is making a move to expand its Australia presence. The DevOps and cloud transformation consultancy is opening a branch in Sydney to meet the region’s rapidly growing demand for digital transformation services and build on its presence in Melbourne.

As we pointed out in the article on our first foray into the APAC market, 2017 has been dubbed the ‘Year of Digital Transformation’ in Australia. The market opportunity is huge and growing: a recent report states that the Australian digital transformation market stands at $996 million, or 21% of the total Australian consultancy sector, with more Australian organisations are planning, testing, or implementing digital transformation strategies than the international average.

Dan Williams, VP of Engineering (APAC) at Contino, commented: “There is a perfect storm brewing in the Australian market where firms are now rapidly realising the need to be more technology-focused and customer-centric.

In particular, millennial consumers, globalised competition and the frenetic pace set by other regional hubs like Singapore and Hong Kong are all important catalysts of change and transformation of the Australian enterprise landscape. The Australian retail sector, specifically, is bracing itself for seismic change with the news of Alibaba and Amazon’s plans to open up distribution centres in Australia. Financial services firm are grappling with the potential cost of numerous public failures in cyber security.

Australian enterprises are showing leadership and starting to invest in up-skilling their own people and aiming for meaningful cultural change.

We’re seeing Sydney and Melbourne finally starting to replicate established leading tech hubs like Tel Aviv, San Francisco, London and New York. We’re looking forward to seeing more growth in APAC and hiring the best talent to work on exciting, cutting edge projects in future.”

The new Sydney office ‒ located on Martin Place in the capital’s central business district ‒ will be led by James Denman, previously both a US Marine and VP of Technology at Levvel, a US-based IT consultancy.

Matt Farmer, Contino CEO, stated: “We’re seeing strong demand for niche engineering skills in the Australian market and global technical expertise. We are excited to continue to grow in Australia and open our second office in Sydney. Contino has become the partner of choice for complex technology projects in regulated environments and we have more experience than anyone else in enterprise digital transformation. We are looking forward to partnering with more Australian companies and helping them on their transformational journey, drawing on Contino’s unique experience in working with leading global names across the banking, insurance and capital markets sectors.”
